Operation
A multi-campus, two-year, state-supported community college with six campuses and numerous outreach centers, Miami Dade is nationally recognized as one of the largest and best community colleges in the country. It is governed by a seven-member District Board of Trustees and a college president.

Curriculum and Degrees
- Baccalaureate in Science degree in Exceptional Student Education (ESE), Secondary Mathematics,and Secondary Science, with specialties in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science and Physics.
- Associate in Arts degree (University Transfer Programs)
- Associate in Science degree and College Credit Certificates (two-year degree, college credit and certificate programs in occupational areas, several of which are transferable to the upper division).
- Some occupational program areas include: business, computers, aviation, hospitality and travel, criminal justice, fire science, technical, allied health, nursing, public service, entertainment and other occupational program areas.
- Associate in Applied Science (two-year degree that leads to employment)
- Vocational Credit Certificate (hands-on technology courses leading to employment)
- Applied Technology diploma (hands-on technology courses leading to employment; may be offered at either vocational credit or college credit level)
- Continuing workforce and adult education, and recreation and leisure (non-credit)
Cost to Students
- Lower division: Florida resident, $64.05 per credit; out-of-state student, $219.15 per credit.
- Upper division: Florida resident, $72.96 per credit; out-of-state student, $294.67 per credit.
- Textbooks, supplies, lab and special fees are extra.
- Living costs are student’s responsibility. Miami Dade has no dormitories.

Miami Dade College has transfer agreements at all of the state universities as well as numerous agreements with colleges and universities across the country, including: The University of Wisconsin - Madison, Georgia Tech, Smith College and the University of Texas.

Contributing to the impact were $173 million in direct purchases from local businesses, the significantly lower unemployment rate among community college graduates compared to high school graduates, and higher earnings for graduates. Approximately 9 out of 10 MDC students stay in the region and contribute to the local economy after they leave the college.
